If philosophy as a subject didn’t exist, would the world have been a different place?

One thing that marks us out from most animals is the ability to question, to ask why. It’s one of the earliest stages of human development; you’ll have noticed small children do it all the time – and this is the beginning of philosophy. Who am I? Why am I here? And so on. Philosophy groups these, and other questions. The world is only known to us by thinking and questioning.
